Health checks & vaccinations
It is really important that every pet sees a vet regularly as sometimes vets can pick up on subtle changes that may mean we can offer appropriate preventative treatment or start treatment early to improve the prognosis.
Full health check
A full health check will be given at the time of a vaccination and we recommend another check 6 months later. If your pet is in our healthy pets club then the vaccination and 6 month check are included in the monthly payments so there is no additional charge, apart from for the Kennel Cough.
At a routine health check your pet will have a general once over including the vet listening to your pet’s heart, and checking joints and teeth.
Vaccinations are important for cats, dogs and rabbits and these are usually required annually.
Cats can be vaccinated against Feline Leukemia Virus, Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus and Panleukopenia. Cats should be vaccinated at 8 weeks old, 11–12 weeks old, 16 weeks old and then have annual boosters.
Dogs can be vaccinated against Distemper, Infectious Canine Hepatitis, Canine Parvovirus, and Leptospirosis. Kennel Cough and Rabies vaccinations are also available but are not necessarily needed so it is best to check with your vet. Puppies can be vaccinated at 8 weeks, 10–12 weeks and 16 weeks old and then have annual boosters.
Rabbits can be vaccinated against Myxomatosis and Viral Haemorrhagic Diseases 1 and 2, which is now in a triple vaccination. Rabbits can be vaccinated from 5 weeks old and then have an annual booster. It is really important to regularly use parasiticides to keep your pet free from fleas, ticks and worms. Parasites can be irritant and cause your pet to itch, they can infest your home and some can be passed on to humans too! If your pet is in our healthy pets club then regular parasite treatment is included in the monthly payments.
